VMS supports innovation and entrepreneurial activity throughout the MIT community by matching prospective entrepreneurs with skilled volunteer mentors. It uses a team mentoring approach with groups of 3 to 4 mentors sitting with a fledgling entrepreneur(s) in sessions that provide practical, day-to-day professional advice and coaching.
Michael Fertik
Michael Fertik founded Reputation.com with the belief that businesses and individuals have the right to control and protect their online reputation and privacy. Credited with pioneering the field of online reputation management (ORM), Michael is lauded as the world's leading cyberthinker in digital privacy and reputation.
He is a member of the World Economic Forum Agenda Council on Internet Security and recipient of the World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer 2011 Award. Michael is an industry commentator with guest columns in Harvard Business Review (HBR), The Huffington Post, Reuters and Newsweek. He is also co-author of the bestselling book, "Wild West 2.0." Michael founded his first internet company while at Harvard College. He also received his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Vishnu Amble
Vishnu is an investor in Cleantech and Renewable Energy companies around the globe with a European-based Private Equity fund manager. Previously, he focused on India private equity investments for Dubai-based Abraaj Capital, the largest private equity firm in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) with over $6.5 billion in assets under management. His responsibilities included the execution and management of four private equity investments totaling $100 million in India, with a focus on the power and infrastructure sectors. Prior to Abraaj, Vishnu was with The Carlyle Group, a global alternative asset manager with more than $90.9 billion under management, focusing on private equity investments, including buyout and growth equity, in companies in the software, software-enabled services, power and clean technology, and semiconductors and related supply chain businesses across the globe. Vishnu started his career with Lehman Brothers in the Global Power and Infrastructure Investment Banking Group based in New York and London, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt financings, and strategic advisory mandates for electric and gas utilities, thermal and renewable power producers, and cleantech and power technology companies. He received his undergraduate degrees in Economics and Computer Science from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. He also currently serves as an advisor to several other start-ups in the US, Europe, and India.
